The owner of the Bronx apartment where police discovered a man slashed and bound with duct tape has been arrested in connection with his death, cops said Saturday.
Charles Votaw, 37, was charged with assault, concealment of a human corpse and tampering with physical evidence.
Police were called to Votaw’s apartment on Creston Avenue near Field Place in Fordham Heights on Friday night after a building resident smelled a foul odor and called the cops, according the authorities.
Responders found the man, who has not yet been identified, with his legs tied to his waist and slashes to his chest and wrists. He had been bound with duct tape, police said.
Votaw was taken into custody Saturday afternoon for questioning. His arraignment was pending Saturday night.
The medical examiner will determine the cause of death, which may increase the charges, police said.
