Bills misintepreted my Josh Allen comments

The Bills mined bulletin board material from Pat Shurmur’s assessment of Josh Allen before last year’s draft, when the Giants coach said the quarterback had “a chance to be a starter.”

On Friday, Shurmur wasn’t providing the opponent with any new material.

“I know what I said and my comments were meant to be positive,” Shurmur said Friday before the Giants face Buffalo on Sunday at MetLife Stadium. “I can’t control how some people will interpret them. … My comments were meant to basically give praise. They were interpreted differently.”

Olivier Vernon will return to MetLife Stadium on Monday night — to face the Jets — for the first time since being shipped to Cleveland in March’s Odell Beckham Jr. trade. But the Giants’ former defensive end/linebacker hopes to catch up with some of his former teammates first.

“If I have time, yeah. I don’t know if I can go in that building or anything like that,” Vernon said. “I got cool ties with all the guys that were over there. It was all love. At the end of the day, it’s just business. No hard feelings at all.”
