Robert F. Kennedy’s granddaughter has been identified as the 22-year-old woman who fatally overdosed at the family’s Cape Cod compound on Thursday, according to a report.
Two family friends told The New York Times that the victim was Saoirse Kennedy Hill, who was staying at the sprawling Hyannis Port, Massachusetts home of her grandmother, 91-year-old Ethel Kennedy.
By the time medics arrived about 2:30 p.m., Saoirse was already in cardiac arrest, the Hyannis News reported.
She was taken to Cape Cod Hospital, where was was pronounced dead, the Times said.
Saoirse is the daughter of Courtney Kennedy Hill.
Ethel Kennedy is the widow of late Sen. Robert F. Kennedy. It’s unclear if she was home at the time.
The Kennedy Compound consists of several waterfront homes along the Nantucket Sound in Hyannis Port.
The death takes place 50 years after the late Senator Ted Kennedy’s car plunged off a bridge off of Martha’s Vineyard, killing his 28-year-old passenger, Mary Jo Kopechne.
