Patriots starting center David Andrews has reportedly been hospitalized with blood clots in his lungs, and is at risk of missing the entire season.
It’s unclear when the 27-year-old was admitted into the hospital, though the The Athletic indicates Andrew won’t be ready to go once the Patriots open their season Sept. 8 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Andrews has started in front of Tom Brady over the past four seasons, and his absence would be a major blow to the defending Super Bowl champions’ offensive line.
New England would likely lean on 2016 sixth-round draft pick Ted Karras without Andrews in the fold.
Karras, 25, has started five games in three years with the Pats.
