Man threatened to shoot up Florida Hilton in online reviews: cops

A Texas man allegedly threatened to shoot up a Florida Hilton hotel in a scathing online review, police said.

Joseph Lee McKinney, 40, was arrested Saturday as he stepped off a cruise ship at Port Canaveral, Fla., after cops linked at least one menacing missive to him, local outlet Space Coast Daily reported.

“The review contained threatening language that made reference to an ‘active shooter style’ event at the hotel,” said Cocoa Beach Police Sgt. Manny Hernandez.

Hilton employees on Friday received the electronic guest review, where McKinney expressed dissatisfaction with a recent stay and threatened violence, police said.

He was charged with written threats to kill, do bodily injury or conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism. He is being held in Brevard County Jail on $25,000 bond.

“Let this arrest send a message that we have zero tolerance for any threat of mass violence,” said Cocoa Beach Police Chief Scott Rosenfeld in a statement.

“The safety of our community is paramount, and we, as well as our law enforcement partners, are committed to carrying out that mission.”
