The grandparents of the man who allegedly slaughtered 20 people inside an El Paso Walmart said they were “devastated” on Sunday, offering prayers to the victims.
Larry Brown and Cynthia Brown released a statement about Saturday’s mass shooting allegedly perpetrated by their grandson — 21-year-old Patrick Crusius — who is being treated as a “domestic terrorist.”
“We are devastated of the events of El Paso and pray for the victims of this tragedy,” the statement said.
“Patrick Crusius is our grandson. He lived with us in our house in Allen, Texas while he attended Collin County College.”
They added, “He moved out of our house six weeks ago and spent few nights here while we were out of town.”
Crusius allegedly opened fire in the crowded Walmart near the Mexican border on Saturday, killing 20 and wounding 26 others.
Investigators believe a racist manifesto posted online in the hours before the shooting was penned by Crusius.
The grandparents explained that the shooters driver’s license and mailing address were at their Texas home, causing some to believe he lived there.
