He gets it.
Antoine Bethea, entering his 14th season in the NFL, understands how attached Antonio Brown is to his old helmet.
“I definitely get where he’s coming from as far as comfort, feeling comfortable with what he knows,’’ Bethea told The Post on Tuesday.
Unlike Brown, though, Bethea would never threaten to quit playing over a helmet.
“Nah, I ain’t gonna say that,’’ Bethea said, “but I get the argument.’’
Brown, the combustible Raiders receiver, said he would quit if he is not able to wear a helmet that is not certified by the league because it is deemed unsafe. Brown lost his grievance case with the NFL and now says he will not retire.
“I’ve had to change my helmet a few times,’’ said Bethea, a 35-year-old safety in his first year with the Giants. “Obviously with the concussions and the testing and things of that nature some helmets passed, some helmets failed. It’s that borderline between being safe and feeling comfortable. I get it.
“It’s just like clothes. Some jeans you like the way they fit, some jeans you don’t. The jeans you don’t like the way they fit, guess what? You’re not going to buy it or you’re not going to wear it.
“I’ve adjusted. I know some guys, if they would allow us to where some of the old helmets they would go back to the old helmets, even though they’re not safe. It’s about comfort. I understand both sides.’’
Rookie CB DeAndre Baker did not have much to say about the sprained left knee that kept him out of practice the past few days. He is listed as day-to-day. “I was positive about it the whole time,’’ Baker said. “I’m a good watcher. I still can learn mentally without getting out there and getting reps.’’
Investors Bank, in the second year of a 10-year partnership agreement with the Giants, will donate $250 for every scoring drive during the regular season to CASA of NJ, a non-profit program that advocates for the welfare of children to be removed from their families because of abuse of neglect.
The Giants signed TE Jake Powell, who played at Monmouth (N.J.). Powell was recently waived by the Saints.
WR Amba Etta-Tawo was placed on injured reserve with a torn Achilles tendon. TE Isaiah Searight was waived/injured and DE Alex Jenkins was waived.
