“We will not tolerate these actions…Not now or ever.”
That’s the message cops in Butler County, Ohio, want people to hear after a local resident found a dog on the side of the road with her mouth duct-taped shut and her throat slashed.
“This is appalling,” said local sheriff Richard Jones in a statement.
“Words cannot describe the disgust I’m feeling right now,” he added. “We will work diligently to find who did this and seek justice.”
Someone from Madison Township, OH, found the injured pup — dubbed Dani — on Aug. 17 and brought her to a local veterinarian, according to officials.
A chip was located inside the dog and used to trace its ownership to a shelter in Cincinnati called HART Rescue. The shelter told cops that they “adopted the canine out” in 2011.
“We will not tolerate these actions,” wrote Sheriff Jones in a tweet on Friday. “Period. not now or ever.”
Authorities provided an update on Dani’s condition Saturday, saying the pooch was “doing well.”
“The Sheriff loves animals and takes cases like this very serious,” a statement said. “As far as adopting her, we are working on getting her better right now.. Thank you all for your kind words and support and we’ll keep you updated on her progress and possible adoption information.”
Facebook users were just as disgusted by what happened to Dani as Jones was.
“I’m SO SICK of seeing this kind of S$&T!!!” said one person. “It is disgusting and as a dog mom of 2 I can not even fathom how anyone can do this!!!”
Another user wrote, “This is just so heart breaking…. a person who does something like this is a coward to pick on a defenseless animal who only loves unconditionally.”
The Butler County Sheriff’s Dog Warden has been probing Dani’s discovery as an Animal Cruelty Case, according to officials.
“Please help us find out who did this,” said Sheriff Jones.
