Darryl Roberts’ strong showing continues

Here is our daily practice update from Jets training camp:

Something good

No. 2 cornerback Darryl Roberts’ strong training camp continued. He broke up a pass for Robby Anderson over the middle in team drills and played tight coverage for most of the morning, rarely letting receivers get separation from him.

Something bad

Trenton Cannon fumbled at the goal-line, a potentially costly mistake for the backup running back who could be looking for a new home come cutdown day. Remember, new general manager Joe Douglas has no connection to the sixth-round pick of a year ago.

Caught my eye

Undrafted rookie Greg Dortch could end up making the team as the punt returner, but he made an impact Tuesday in the passing game, with three receptions, including a touchdown. The 5-foot-8 wideout has a knack for getting open.

Injury report

WR Quincy Enunwa didn’t finish practice, tweaking his groin during one-on-drills. DL Leonard Williams (hip) missed his second straight practice. Coach Adam Gase expects him to return next week. DT Steve McLendon returned to practice after having an excused absence on Monday. S Marcus Maye (shoulder) remains on the PUP list.
