Viral YouTuber Grant Thompson — creator of the popular series “King of Random” — died while paragliding in Utah on Monday night, TMZ reported. He was 38.
Thompson’s brother told the outlet that Grant never returned from his trip near Sand Hollow State Park. The YouTube star’s body was recovered Tuesday, the report said.
The YouTuber co-starred in videos “dedicated to exploring life through all kinds of life hacks, experiments, and random weekend projects,” according to his channel’s description.
“There is excitement found in discovering the unknown, and living to tell about it, so join us and let’s building something together,” it reads.
On Monday night an unknown caller notified authorities of Thompson’s disappearance, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
The caller used Thompson’s last known phone-tracked GPS coordinates to direct a search team to the online influencer’s body.
Authorities also recovered Thompson’s paragliding equipment and a recording device, TMZ said.
They are reviewing the footage to help nail down the cause of the fatal accident.
Thompson’s “The King of Random” channel has 11.6 million subscribers. The channel’s last video, posted Wednesday, titled “Grant Thompson, in Memoriam,” honors the fallen star.
“It is with great sadness to inform everyone that Grant Thompson passed away last night. Grant had great love and appreciation for his fans,” read the video’s caption.
